Heritage Food Service Equipment to Expand in Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne, IN (February, 2010) Heritage Food Service Equipment has announced that it will expand it's Fort Wayne facility located at 5130 Executive Boulevard. The company will invest $1.5 million and add 150 new positions. Heritage Food Service currently has 203 workers at it's Fort Wayne location. The project is scheduled for completion in 2013.

“This expansion will be very beneficial to the future of Heritage Food Service,” said Bruce Dye, chief executive officer. “We believe that Fort Wayne offers us an opportunity to work toward reaching our full potential as a business and we want to take advantages of the benefits of expanding our facility here.” The company has service locations throughout the southern United States, but Fort Wayne is the site of Heritage Food Services’ headquarters and distribution center.

The Fort Wayne Common Council will consider phasing in taxes associated with the project. Heritage Food Service could save approximately $113,640 on real and personal property taxes over ten years. The company is also eligible for $16,000 in recruitment and assessment services, $108,000 in job specific training and $26,000 in computer training services from WorkOne Northeast. The Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) will provide $1,000,000 in Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) tax credits and $88,500 from the Skills Enhancement Fund (SEF).

“This is excellent news for the City of Fort Wayne,” stated Mayor Tom Henry. “Heritage Food Services’ investment will have a tremendous impact on the local economy, which will be of great benefit to our community.”

Along with the announced expansion project, Heritage Food Service recently became a member of the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce. “As a member of the Chamber, we are pleased with the announcement of Heritage Food Service’s expansion,” said Mike Landram, president and CEO of the Chamber. “This company has shown it has the ability to grow, even in a tough economic climate.”
